The Grand National & Aintree 1970-79

Welcome to the latest website from the Grand National anorak which celebrates the Nationals of my childhood. The Nationals of the Seventies. For me this was an age of innocence, a time when the National could be enjoyed for what it was - the greatest steeplechase in the world. Considering how we now often watch the race in a state of almost paranoia I sometimes find myself remembering how it used to be. The racecourse may have been on its last legs but in those days everyone loved the National and there was not an animal rights activist in sight. Oh happy days..... the Grand Nationals of the Seventies have a special place in my heart.
